Hi, I'm steve_brimley over on the eater. In the past two days I've been speaking with a guy in Arizona who runs a small non-profit organization. They have their own server which has been hacked at least two and possibly three times in the last day or so. Does anybody know of any online resources he could consult with about this?

EDIT: oops - the nature of the hack was to load a phishing attempt on the server (if that matters).

Securing webservers is beyond our spectre of expertise. What i can recomend if you run your own server is:

- employ a server admin that know what he is doing (sorry, but that IS nescessary)
- keep your software up to date and fix any known security holes.
- if their server has been hacked more than once in just a day, chances are that it has been rooted. I recommend checking for it and reinstalling the os if nescaessary
- an additional external firewall and IDS may help if you know what you're doing
