Yes, as far as I can tell. Have you been in contact with anyone claiming to work for them, possibly offering you millions of dollars in some deal?

The real CIBC bank website is here:
http://www.cibc.com/ca/personal.html
A real CIBC employee would have an @cibc.com email address.

You need to give us more details if we are to assist you properly.

As Daneel said, we need more detail, just because a bank may be real, does not mean it is not a scam....

I have received not only e-mail, but phone calls and now a check for a sizable amount of money. No instructions about the check yet. I had contacted my local Police Department about this and they advised it was a Nigerian scam. I have been playing them along and now I am to a point I may need some advice , especially on the check.

I was told by a "Peter_Water@fmail.co.uk" about your site way after I was setting this up hoping to get law enforcement support. What do you recommend?

Forget the check - keep it as a souvenir if you want to, but don't go anywhere near a bank with it!

If the scammers have any of your real identifiable information, break off all communication at once. It is not safe to continue. If you want to learn how to string them along safely, visit www.419eater.com .

In addition, relay all information you have on these criminals to the police. Preferably also the check.

Here are two different e-mail headers:

FROM MR.ROBERT PAYNE [I have a picture of this guys ID Badge]
AUDITOR AND COMPUTING MANAGER
BANK OF SCOTLAND
UNITED KINGDOM
EMAIL:payne_private@london.net

and

Bar. Athony W.Kruger.
Principal Partner, Kruger Attorneys
26 Aitken Street Halfway House
P.O.Box, 1685 Dcoex 223,PTA.
Johannesburg South Africa.
E-mail: wil_kg@yahoo.ca
Tel: 0027-83-89-888-30

I was hoping to frame the check and put it on my wall as a souvenier, but I am taking the check to my Police Department tomorrow.

What's next? I was really hoping to catch these guys red handed asking for the monies, but I will follow your advice.

Thanks, and Regards

Hey,
That's not the actual headers we're looking for this is what we mean CLICKY
is where you can find out how to show us them.

The picture you have is more than likely a fake. If it turns out this guy is genuinely from South Africa then it's probably wise to visit www.419legal.org

I did the "CLICKY" thing above and the instructions did not work on my computer. Why do you need the headers so badly, isn't it obviouse this is a scam? I will just go to my local Police Department with the check and all the messages I have received.

Thanks for your time.
