I have been conversing with a gentlemen that claims to be from NJ in the US and is stuck in Africa. I have done research on the 419 scams and he wanted to have a ck sent to me via Qchex so I could send the funds to him. I told him I am aware of scams and do not believe him. He states that he is who he says he is. I told him if I rec a check I will take it directly to the police department he said that is fine, after the police inspect I can cash it. He has no qualms about me reporting him, because he states he is who he says he is. What should I do, he is very convincing and I know that these scammers are good at what they do. So what should I do. Would a scammer commend me for being a women of policy and checking everything out before I go forward. Cause he says he commends me for it. Please help!

Sorry, but this is another scam. The cheque will be fake, and you will be liable for the funds if you cash it.

Of course he's denying he's a scammer - why would he admit it? He has nothing to lose by lying to you and everything to gain. If you take the cheque to the police, he's lost nothing, but if he convinces you he's real by going along with everything you say, he has a good chance of making some easy money. As you say, scammers are good at what they do - they're not just thieves, they're also professional liars!

Post his email with the full headers here so we can see which country he's emailing you from. If you don't know how to obtain headers, have a look at this site.

The US-citizen stuck in africa is a rather standard scam too.
There is also no reason why somebody who has the ability to send out a check to someone in the US can't access his money without the help of a stranger. He would just need to contact the next US embassy and let them take care of it.

P.S. i have removed your email address from the headers you posted.
