I have received several emails like this from other companies offering me a job where I could earn a 10% commission on checks that I cash in the USA and wire (thru Western Union) the rest to their account overseas. Sounds like money-laundering to me. This has to be a SCAM!
Has anyone else received emails like this?

Dear Sir/Ma,

It is my pleasure to introduce to you our organisation. We are experts in the sale of raw materials including cocoa, rubber, crystal crucibles e.t.c ..We export into Canada/America and some parts Europe. We are searching for representatives who can help us establish a medium of getting our funds from our customers in the Canada/America/Europe as well as making payments through these representatives to us.we started this new policy 2 years ago looking for responsible/reputable and descent individual/corporation to represent our corporations in their region as a means of expanding reach in terms of debt collection.who will act as our payment officers across the globe as we are encouraging transactions with countries overseas.

In times past we have ventured into transactions with some overseas customers and money collection from them has been difficult just because we are in China.we also want to spread our influences to United States,United Kingdom,Europe,Canada and other parts of the world and to confirm this we need a reputable representative in these areas. payment will be strictly on commision basis as any payment you receive on our corporations behalf you will be entitled to 10% of the money being that we cannot be making direct payments to you.it will not disturb you from your other business or activities. if you are intrested, seek for your application form, fill and sumit it back to us.THERE WILL BE NO FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS REQUIRED OF YOU NOW OR IN THE LONG RUN. For further informations, you could write back to

It is a cheque scam. You'll be sent fake cheques, when they're deposited they appear to clear, you wire the money, then the bank finds the cheque is bogus and comes after you for the money. Note a cheque can bounce six months, a year later so you can be out thousands. A nice bonus is that the police are likely to come after you for cheque fraud, we've seen innocent people jailed over this.

It is a form of money laundering as well.

Don't touch it.

As M_Saeed_Al_Sahhaf stated, avoid this like the plague. And don't give them your bank account details even if it's empty, or they will deposit a fake check and withdraw the money themselves, and you'll still responsible to reimburse the bank and face charges.

If they already have your details, close that account and open a new one.

opus is right, you shouldn't give them your bank details, but he isn't quite correct on another fact: unless you give somebody permission to withdraw money from your account you won't be held responsible for money that is withdrawn from your account. You are howver responsible for regularily checking your account statements for unauthorized transfers.
You should also be awarre that they can deposit a fake checquq into your account and tell you that they wired the money. If you just look at the total amount available you won't be able to spot the difference though.

So in short:
- don't give them your banking details. If you do it's no big problem (loads of people wilkl already have them anyway), but be careful to check your account regularily
- NEVER send them any money
- talk to your bank (and make them give you a written statement) when in doubt

The Captain has a good point but from what I know of banks around here, they may accuse the account holder of negligence, or even complicity and will put you through a lot of hassle before agreeing to cover the loss.
